Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 3, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how New York Paycheck Calculator (“the Website,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you visit newyorkpaycheckcalculator.org and use its calculators, guides and contact form. New York Paycheck Calculator is an independent, informational and educational project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the IRS, the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, New York City, the City of Yonkers, or any other government agency.

Information we collect

We collect information in three general ways: (1) technical information collected automatically as you browse, such as through cookies and analytics tools; (2) information you voluntarily enter into a calculator to generate an estimate; and (3) information you voluntarily submit through the contact form. We do not require you to create an account, and the Website does not process payments.

Calculator inputs (paycheck and tax figures)

Our paycheck and tax calculators run in your browser. The salary, hourly rate, filing status, allowances, deduction amounts and similar figures you type into a calculator are used to compute the on-screen estimate. We do not require you to enter your name, Social Security number, bank account information, or employer login credentials to use any calculator, and none of these are needed for the tools to work. Where a calculator saves recent inputs for your convenience (for example, so a value persists if you reload the page), that storage happens in your own browser’s local storage on your device, not on our servers, unless a specific tool on the Website states otherwise.

Cookies and analytics

Like most websites, we may use cookies, similar tracking technologies (such as local storage or pixels), and standard web analytics services (for example, Google Analytics or a comparable privacy-respecting analytics provider) to understand how visitors use the Website — such as which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, what device or browser is used, and general geographic region derived from IP address. This helps us improve content, fix broken calculators, and understand which guides are useful.

Analytics data is generally aggregated and does not identify you personally. Depending on the analytics provider in use at any given time, IP addresses may be collected in a truncated or anonymized form. We do not control how third-party analytics providers process data beyond the settings we configure; please refer to the analytics provider’s own privacy policy for details of its practices.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features but will not prevent the calculators themselves from working, since calculations run locally in your browser.

Advertising

The Website does not currently display third-party advertising, but we may introduce display advertising in the future — potentially including a network such as Google AdSense or a comparable ad provider. If and when advertising is introduced, the advertising network may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your visit to this and other websites, and may collect information about your browsing activity for that purpose. Where required, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any consent mechanism required by applicable law before enabling such advertising. You can generally opt out of personalized advertising through your browser settings, device settings, or the ad network’s own opt-out tools (for example, Google’s Ads Settings).

Contact form data

Our Contact page lets you send us a message. The form collects your name (optional), a reply email address, the type of inquiry, and your message. We use this information only to respond to you, investigate a reported calculator error, or address the feedback you send. We do not sell this information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Do not submit sensitive information

Please do not include your Social Security number, bank account or routing numbers, passwords, or unredacted tax documents or pay stubs in the contact form or in any message to us. We do not need this information to help you, and the Website is not designed to store or protect this category of sensitive data. If you need to report a calculation issue, describe the inputs and the discrepancy in general terms instead.

How we use information

We use the information described above to: operate and improve the Website and its calculators; understand aggregate usage and traffic patterns; respond to contact-form inquiries; diagnose and fix technical or calculation issues; maintain the security of the Website; and, if introduced, deliver advertising as described above. We do not use calculator inputs to build individual financial profiles, and we do not sell personal information to third parties.

How information is shared

We may share limited information with:

  • Service providers that help us operate the Website, such as our web hosting provider, analytics provider, and (if used) advertising network — each acting under its own applicable terms and privacy practices;
  • Legal or safety purposes, where we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of the Website, our users, or the public; and
  • A business transition, such as a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a successor policy of which you will be notified.

We do not otherwise sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.

Data retention

Aggregated analytics data is generally retained according to the analytics provider’s standard retention settings. Contact-form messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to address your inquiry and for our internal recordkeeping, after which they may be deleted. Calculator inputs entered directly into a tool are processed in your browser and are not, by default, transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information we hold about you, or to opt out of certain data uses. Because we collect very limited personal information (primarily what you voluntarily submit through the contact form), most requests can be handled simply by contacting us and telling us what you’d like us to do — for example, deleting a message you previously sent us. You can also manage cookie and analytics tracking through your browser settings, and opt out of personalized advertising, if enabled, through the ad network’s own tools.

Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate for an informational website, including standard third-party, US-based web hosting with routine security practices and HTTPS encryption for the site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. This is one reason we ask you not to send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or bank details through the contact form.

Children’s privacy

The Website is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

The Website links to external resources, including official government pages (such as the IRS and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance) and other reference sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. Once you leave newyorkpaycheckcalculator.org, the destination site’s own privacy policy governs.

International and out-of-state visitors

The Website is hosted in the United States and is intended primarily for a United States audience. If you access the Website from outside the United States, your information may be processed and stored on servers located in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your home jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect new analytics tools, the introduction of advertising, or changes in applicable law. We will update the “Last updated” date above when we make changes. Continued use of the Website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
