New York Paycheck Calculator provides calculators, tables and educational content for general informational and planning purposes.

Calculator results are estimates based on the information you enter, the assumptions documented by the Website and the tax/payroll rules modeled for the stated tax year. They are not guaranteed to match your employer’s payroll system, your actual pay stub, a filed tax return, an IRS or New York tax notice, a tax professional’s calculation, or the outcome of a legal or payroll dispute.

Not tax, payroll, accounting, legal or financial advice

Nothing on New York Paycheck Calculator is intended to provide personalized tax, payroll, accounting, legal or financial advice. Using a calculator or reading a guide does not create an accountant-client, attorney-client, payroll-provider, financial-adviser or fiduciary relationship. For an important decision involving your individual circumstances, use the applicable official form/source, your employer or payroll department, appropriate tax software, or a qualified professional who can review your complete facts.

Calculator results are estimates

A calculator can only use the information and rules it is given. Your real result can differ because of incomplete or incorrect inputs, employer-specific payroll treatment, W-4 settings, IT-2104 allowances, multiple jobs, year-to-date wages, benefit deductions, bonuses or commissions, imputed income, payroll corrections, part-year employment, residency or source-allocation rules, tax credits, unusual compensation, or rules the calculator does not model. A precise-looking number is still an estimate. For the actual calculation sequence, source registry, rounding approach, testing and known limitations, see How the New York Paycheck Calculator Works.

Paycheck withholding is not final annual tax

The site contains both paycheck withholding calculators and an annual income-tax calculator that answer different questions. Paycheck withholding estimates amounts withheld/deducted for a payroll period using Form W-4, Form IT-2104, pay-period wages and approved withholding methods. Annual tax liability approximates tax for the year after applying annual tax rules. The amount withheld from your pay can be more than, less than, or approximately equal to final tax. A high withholding amount does not guarantee a refund; a low withholding amount does not prove the employer calculated payroll incorrectly. Do not treat the two calculation types as interchangeable.

Monthly and biweekly “after-tax” examples are planning amounts

Salary-example pages can show annual after-tax pay divided by 12 or 26. Those monthly or biweekly figures are planning equivalents, not guaranteed payroll deposits. Your actual check can differ because employer withholding is performed per payroll period and can also include PFL, DBL, health insurance, retirement contributions, union dues, commuter benefits and other payroll deductions.

Federal withholding limitations

Federal paycheck estimates depend heavily on the Form W-4 information entered. Results can differ materially with multiple jobs, a working spouse, other income, large deductions, tax credits, part-year employment, nonresident-alien withholding, special wage types or other circumstances handled outside the calculator. The Website does not determine which W-4 entries you should legally or strategically use. The IRS provides an official Tax Withholding Estimator for individualized federal withholding review.

New York IT-2104 limitations

The Website can estimate New York withholding and assist with common IT-2104 worksheet arithmetic. It does not decide what you are legally entitled to claim on Form IT-2104. Some multiple-job situations require official New York charts or additional calculations that the Website deliberately does not replace with a simplified guess. Before submitting a withholding certificate to an employer, review the current New York form and instructions.

NYC residency disclaimer

Selecting “NYC resident” in a calculator does not establish that you are legally a New York City resident. Residency can depend on domicile, permanent place of abode, time spent in the jurisdiction, part-year moves and other legal/residency rules. The Website does not provide a legal residency determination. If your NYC residency is uncertain or disputed, use current New York Tax Department guidance or qualified professional advice.

Yonkers residency and work-allocation disclaimer

The Yonkers calculator distinguishes resident and nonresident withholding, but selecting resident/nonresident does not legally establish your status; a nonresident’s “work performed in Yonkers (%)” is a user-provided planning input; the Website does not determine which workdays legally count as Yonkers-source services and does not prepare Form IT-2104.1 or Form Y-203. Employer records and official allocation/return rules control the real calculation.

Hourly and overtime disclaimer

The hourly calculator’s regular rate, hours, overtime hours/multiplier and additional-rate fields calculate gross-pay scenarios. They do not determine whether you are legally entitled to overtime, FLSA exempt/nonexempt status, New York labor-law overtime eligibility, industry-specific overtime rules, or wage-and-hour claims. If you have a wage-law dispute, use official labor guidance or qualified legal advice.

Bonus calculator disclaimer

The bonus calculator can compare percentage/flat and aggregate withholding methods. The method actually used by your employer depends on the circumstances and applicable payroll rules; using the calculator’s comparison does not give the employee a legal right to demand a particular withholding method. A 22%, 11.70%, 4.25% or other displayed supplemental percentage is a withholding rate under the modeled method, not necessarily the final tax rate on the bonus.

Paid Family Leave and disability disclaimer

The Website can estimate ordinary New York Paid Family Leave and standard disability-benefit employee contributions. It does not determine whether your employment is covered, whether you qualify for a PFL waiver, whether your employer pays the employee PFL cost, whether you are covered by an enhanced disability plan, whether a multi-employer DBL adjustment applies, or whether you are eligible for a PFL/DBL benefit claim. For benefit eligibility or disputes, use the New York Workers’ Compensation Board, New York Paid Family Leave, your employer/insurer or appropriate professional advice.

Annual income-tax calculator limitations

The annual New York income-tax calculator is a simplified planning model, not tax-return software. Depending on the mode and inputs, it does not fully model all federal/New York/NYC tax credits, New York additions and subtractions, all itemized-deduction limitations, preferential capital-gain/qualified-dividend federal rates, Alternative Minimum Tax, Net Investment Income Tax, self-employment tax, every pension/retirement exclusion, New York part-year/nonresident allocation, complete Yonkers nonresident annual liability, or every filing-status or special taxpayer rule. Do not file a tax return based solely on a calculator output.

Tax year and law changes

Tax rules, agency instructions, withholding publications and benefit contribution rates can change. A page can display a tax year, a Last Verified date and an official source link. Those indicators show the rules reviewed for the current content; they do not guarantee that no official correction or change has been issued afterward. For materially important calculations, verify the current official source before acting. Our update and correction process is described in the Editorial Policy.

Employer payroll controls the real paycheck

Your employer/payroll provider may use approved wage-bracket tables, exact withholding methods, per-period rounding, payroll-specific benefit rules, internal year-to-date records, or corrections/adjustments unavailable to a public calculator. Small differences between a calculator and payroll can occur even when both are applying permitted methods. A significant unexplained difference should be investigated using the actual pay stub, tax forms, benefit elections and payroll records.

You are responsible for the inputs you enter

Examples of input mistakes that can materially change an estimate: entering annual salary as one paycheck; choosing monthly instead of biweekly; selecting the wrong filing status; omitting W-4 Step 2; entering the wrong IT-2104 allowance count; choosing NYC/Yonkers incorrectly; omitting year-to-date FICA values near a wage threshold; treating an employer-paid benefit as an employee deduction; entering a deduction under the wrong tax category. Review your entries before relying on a result.

No guarantee of refund, tax savings or financial outcome

The Website does not guarantee a tax refund, a specific tax balance, a particular take-home paycheck, a tax-saving strategy, eligibility for a benefit, a successful tax/payroll dispute, or a specific financial result. Any example showing a refund, withholding difference or lower estimated tax is only an illustration under the stated assumptions.

New York Paycheck Calculator is an independent informational calculator project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, operated by or an official service of the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, New York City, City of Yonkers, New York Workers’ Compensation Board, New York Paid Family Leave, or any other government agency. No implied professional review

Unless a page explicitly identifies a real reviewer and their verifiable role, do not assume that the content has been independently reviewed by a CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, payroll professional or financial adviser. We do not intend to create authority through fabricated credentials or generic “expert reviewed” labels. The site’s verification approach is based on transparent primary sources, documented methodology and reproducible QA.

Third-party websites

The Website links to external sites, including government agencies and other resources. We do not control third-party sites and do not guarantee their availability, continued accuracy, privacy/security practices, products or services, or content outside the specific resource being referenced. Website availability and technical errors

The Website can experience software bugs, browser compatibility issues, server outages, incorrect user input, broken links, temporary source-data problems or calculation defects. We aim to correct verified problems, but we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. If a result appears wrong, report it through the Contact page.

Limitation of reliance

You should not rely on the Website as the sole source for a decision where an incorrect estimate could have meaningful tax, legal, employment or financial consequences. Use the Website as a planning aid, an educational tool, a way to understand paycheck components, and a starting point for checking an estimate. Use official records/forms or qualified advice when a final determination is required.

Warranty and liability statement

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Website and its calculators are provided “as is” and “as available” for informational use. No warranty is made that every result is exact, every page is complete for your circumstances, the Website will always be available, every source remains unchanged after review, or a result will match payroll or a tax return. Nothing in this Disclaimer is intended to exclude a right, remedy or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

If you find an error

We want material errors to be reportable and reproducible. Use the Contact page and include the relevant non-sensitive details. Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank details, passwords, unredacted tax returns, unredacted pay stubs or unnecessary identity documents. Verified calculation or factual errors are handled under the Editorial Policy.
